I don't like ways of dividing the pie that exclude people, and I think that the ethos of American poetry should be an inclusive one. It should be open to all kinds of poetry. It's as if poetry is a piano and most poets only know how to play the same two notes. Most of the resources of poetry are lost because of this two-note ethic.
