The wayfarer
Perceiving the pathway to truth
Was struck with astonishment.
It was thickly grown with weeds.
'Ha,' he said,
'I see that none has passed here
In a long time.'
Later he saw that each weed
Was a singular knife.
'Well,' he mumbled at last,
'Doubtless there are other roads.'

Something icy (Sheck)

Why do we try to know one another? I don't mean to be coy. Only that we lived in the same house, ate the same breakfasts, walked the same walks, were mostly frank with one another, and still there's something icy and impersonal in us and between us, between anyone.
