Jobs (Bajo)

Do you think people love having jobs...because they offer a condoned but false responsibility that masks, at least for eight hours a day, true responsibility?
David Bajo, from The 351 Books of Irma Arcuri

Bits from Theodore Roethke (Roethke)

Is the stair here?
Where's the stair?
'The stair's right there,
But it goes nowhere.'

And the abyss? the abyss?
'The abyss you can't miss:
It's right where you are—
A step down the stair.'
from "The Abyss"

I stare and stare into a deepening pool
And tell myself my image cannot die.
I love myself: that's my one constancy.
Oh, to be something else, yet still to be!
from "Infirmity"

Site redesign

So the Webnesia redesign that I've been working on is now live.  Some of the legacy code in the old design was many years old, and it was a real hodge-podge of styles and methods.  I've tried to convert everything to CSS to make future tweaks and redesigns a lot easier.  I'm not sure that the current look will be the final design (there's never really a final design, is there?), but at least now I've got the structure in place to make cosmetic changes quickly and easily (and consistently across the site).

If anyone encounters any bugs or bizarreness, please drop me an email.  I haven't been able to test it on all browsers, but it seems to work in Firefox 3.0.1 and Chrome (it's a mess in IE 7—I'll be working on that) on Windows XP.
